Several times a week, this man comes to the primitive dog shelter on the road to Ovca and treats every creature who needs it, without charge. The day this picture was taken, the patients included a litter of ten puppies abandoned at the gate and a beautiful dalmation so neglected by its owners that it had no flesh at all on its bones. The next week, eight of the ten puppies - two had died -- got their first puppy shots and the dalmatian had gained enough weight that, while you could still count her ribs, you could no longer see the exact shape of her vertebrae....
