Stanko is one of thousands of Croatian Serbs who lost everything in the 80s and 90s. A child when the troubles started, he never had the chance at a decent education or a stable life: his is a lost generation. Despite that, and the macho image he cultivates, he is one of the most intelligent and compassionate individuals I have met since I arrived. I deeply wish that one of those beautiful Serbian women would look beyond his limited prospects to see the gentle person inside....
