Like many men in Serbia, where the official unemployment rate is 30%, these two are jobless. Given their age, the chances that they will ever have a job again are slim to none. They probably do what they can on the 'grey market' -- a little manual labour, some goods bought and sold and don't ask too much about where the goods come from. Much, if not most, economic activity in Sebija is grey market: I have heard estimates that range from 30% (official) to 80% (one of my Serbian friends). But mostly they sit ouside and talk and drink. And drink.....
